Staff in the 0-3 playrooms plan using the 'Together we Can' guidance which was developed in line with the values, purpose and principles of 'A Curriculum for Excellence.'
Together we can focus on 5 areas of development for young children which are:
- Health and Well-being
- Social Competence
- Physical Competence
- Cognitive Competence
- Emotional and Spiritual well-being
Together We Can recognised the importance of parents as partners in their child's care and education and aims to support children and staff on building on learning experiences from the home to nursery.
Staff in the 3-5 playroom use 'A Curriculum for Excellence' when planning and supporting childrens learning and development.
It focuses on the importance of knowledge and skills and will support children in every way possible so that they can fulfil their potential and make the most of their opportunities.
The importance of developing children's literacy and numeracy skills has been clearly recognised as being vital in everyday life and is the responsibility of all those working with our children.
All staff also have a shared responsibility for children's health and wellbeing helping to promote confidence, independent thinking and positive attitudes as this is central to effective learning.
The Curriculum for Excellence recognises that children's learning goes beyond their nursery experiences and promotes close partnership working with family, community and schools.
The aim of our curriculum is to improve our children's achievements and life chances, to nurture successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens.
As part of the curriculum, at Green Apple Nursery we provide a variety of extra curricular activities, such as, Jackie from Music with Anne Dante and JD from Enjoy-A-Ball.
